BOOK FUND APPEAL

November 1, 2006
Dear Friend:
Another busy year at the Sewickley Public Library will soon draw to a close. As we welcomed the reopening of Broad Street this fall, we noted just how busy our library is -- here are some of the library's utilization facts from 2005:
*   Over 296,180 visits to the Library (290,841 visits in 2004)
*   Over 298,244 items checked out (250,118 items in 2004)
*   Over 19,296 people attended programs, workshops or seminars (16,608 in 2004)
*   10,367 new books, DVDs, Books-on-CD and magazines were added to the collection
In general, patrons used the library 19% more in 2005 than in 2004. In 2005, the Friends of the Sewickley Public Library funded many brand new items for the library including a donation of funds for the enhancement of travel DVDs, foreign films and books and music on CD. The Friends also initiated the Master Gardener Series program at the library and plan on offering more programs in 2006.
One of the roles of the Friends of the Library is to foster the use of the Library. To accomplish this role, the Friends perform a variety of fund-raising activities including Used Book Sales, Savoring Sewickley and a yearly mailing. All of the funds earned or collected by the Friends enable the Library to purchase new books and the other materials that we enjoy on a daily basis.
Please help us invest in the ongoing growth of the Sewickley Public Library by sending a tax deductible check to the Friends of the Sewickley Public Library.
We sincerely appreciate your support.
