Summer Reading Teen Volunteers

Attention teens! Are you looking for volunteer opportunity over the summer? The Children’s Department is currently looking for teens going into 8th grade through 12th grade to volunteer to assist with our Summer Reading Club. Volunteers help participants track their reading, distribute prizes, and lend a hand to library staff with craft and activity preparation. A variety of shifts are available Mondays – Saturdays to fit varying schedules. All Summer Reading Teen Volunteers should plan to attend one training meeting on either:

Thursday, May 16 at 6:30pm – OR –  Monday, May 20 at 6:30pm.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

One of the most important gifts you can provide your child is the gift of literacy. That is why we invite you to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative.

Help your child gain the confidence necessary to become a strong reader when you read to them. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, toddler and/or preschooler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your precious one starts kindergarten.
