Summer Reading 2021 Registration Now Open!

Explore the animal kingdom this summer as Sewickley Public Library presents “Tails and Tales” – our summer reading program for 2021! This year’s program runs from June 7 – August 7, 2021.

When you sign up for the Summer Reading Program, you earn chances to win awesome incentives and prizes. All you have to do is read! The more you read & log, the more chances you have to win weekly and grand prize drawings.

Stop by all summer long to check out books, pick up program & craft kits, participate in virtual programs, and earn rewards & prizes by reading!


Sewickley StoryWalk

This Summer, the Sewickley Public Library invites you to grab the family and take a stroll through one of five different community StoryWalks set up throughout the Quaker Valley. Take a self-guided walking tour through the parks and enjoy a spring-themed storybook along the way.

Find the walks set up at these locations:  Fern Hollow Nature Center, Allegheny Land Trust – Audubon Greenway, Mary Roberts Rinehart Nature ParkOhio Township Nature Center, and – new this year – Henle Park.

Enjoy one walk or all five! The Sewickley StoryWalk runs from June 21 – July 11.


Vacation Kits Available Now

Do you want some extra ideas to entertain (and educate) your children while traveling to your vacation getaway?  Request a vacation kit! Just fill out our Vacation Request Form to tell us a little about your trip and what kind of materials you are looking for. This may include fiction and non-fiction books, audiobooks, music CDs, and DVDs. You’ll also receive our Family Vacation Fun List with your kit. Please notify the Children’s Department of your destination and departure date at least one week in advance.


Summer Craft To-Go Kits

Stop by the Children’s Department to pick up a special summer themed Craft To-Go Kit! Supplies and instructions are included. Kits are geared for children in preschool – Grade 2. Available while supplies last.


Hello Kindergarten

Get ready for Kindergarten this Fall with a special Storytime visit from Mrs. Croft from Quaker Valley. Books, songs, and tips to help your child get ready for Kindergarten. Starting June 30 stop by the library to pick up a craft bag for this Storytime. Then join us on YouTube for the Storytime. For children entering Kindergarten in the Fall.

Tween Craft Make and Takes

Stop into the Children’s Department and ask at the desk for this month’s Take and Make Craft! This month we’ll make some cool art you can hang up in your room! Supplies are limited. First come first served.

For Children 3rd grade and up, please. Available while supplies last, first come, first serve.


1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Let’s jump into Kindergarten with a very special virtual storytime along with a craft, stories, and songs supporting our Early Literacy program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten!

Please register for the program online to reserve a craft bag.


First Chapter Friday

Try A New Title!

On First Chapter Fridays sit back, listen, and use your imagination as the first chapter of a book is read to you in this new addition to our virtual programming.
